Russian central bank allows trading with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT
Russia's central bank has approved Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the stablecoin USDT for trading on domestic exchanges, with specific regulations for investors.

The Central Bank of Russia announced on Wednesday that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the stablecoin Tether (USDT) can now be traded on Russian exchanges. This marks an important step in the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the country.
According to the information provided, qualified investors can acquire these cryptocurrencies without restrictions. In contrast, non-qualified investors face an annual purchase limit of up to 300,000 rubles per intermediary, such as brokers or crypto exchanges.
Starting in 2026, non-qualified investors will also be able to conduct these limited transactions, although trading will be permitted only with the most liquid cryptocurrencies.

The decision to include these three cryptocurrencies on the list of tradable digital assets was made by the central bank as part of its efforts to create a regulated market for cryptocurrencies.
The new regulations aim to ensure that especially non-qualified investors, who may lack the necessary expertise, are protected, while qualified investors benefit from fewer restrictions.
