Meinl-Reisinger meets US Secretary of State Rubio in Washington D.C.
Austrian Foreign Minister Meinl-Reisinger and US Secretary of State Rubio discuss current international issues.

Beate Meinl-Reisinger, the Foreign Minister of Austria, had her meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington D.C. on Tuesday. In a subsequent digital press briefing, she described the meeting as a "very good and substantive discussion."
Several current developments were the focus of their discussions. The situation in the Western Balkans, the situation in Ukraine, and the status quo in the Middle East were particularly discussed. These topics are of significant importance for bilateral relations and international stability.

Due to fundamentally divergent topics, some points were deliberately left out of the conversation. This included the issue of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which was not addressed in detail.
Austria was recently elected to the UN Security Council, underscoring the relevance of such discussions. Meinl-Reisinger also spoke ahead of the meeting about the challenges and the need for cooperation on security policy issues.
