Serguei Nedovodin, co-founder of ‘Echo Peterburg,’ dies following assault

Serguei Nedovodin, one of the co-founders and former director of the radio station ‘Echo Peterburg,’ has died at the age of 61. This was announced by the radio station's editorial team via their Telegram channel. Nedovodin had been in the intensive care unit after being attacked on the evening of June 23.

The incident occurred when Nedovodin confronted a drunken neighbor and his friend about loud conversations in the courtyard of his apartment building. He was then brutally attacked by the two men. One assailant reportedly posed as a participant in the Ukraine war, according to statements from Nedovodin's wife, Anna Shefner.

According to Shefner, she had contacted the police several times, but there seemingly was no immediate response from the security forces. The circumstances surrounding Nedovodin's death have not yet been fully clarified.
