Karnataka Cabinet Portfolios Allocated Ahead of Monsoon Session
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has assigned portfolios to twenty-three ministers as the government prepares for the upcoming legislative session.
On August 12, the Karnataka Governor's Office announced the allocation of cabinet portfolios to twenty-three ministers. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar retained key departments including finance and law for himself, while U T Khader received the portfolios of minority welfare and health. R Ramalinga Reddy was assigned the Forest, Ecology and Environment portfolio, while K H Muniyappa took on social welfare, fulfilling his lobbying efforts.
The announcement comes as the government gears up for the monsoon session of the legislature starting on August 13, 2026. The portfolio distribution was concluded just before this important session, indicating an effort to solidify the cabinet's structure.
Additional allocations included Lakshman Savadi receiving responsibility for Co-operation, though he was excluded from Agriculture Marketing. Zameer Ahmed Khan was appointed to handle housing, adding to the cabinet's diverse responsibilities across various sectors.
Despite the allocations, reports suggest some internal discontent within the party, signaling potential challenges as the Ministers prepare for the session ahead. The cabinet's formation marks a significant step in the administration's ongoing management of its legislative agenda.
