Frederiksen: "Ready to Close Borders If Migration Flows Resume"

Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Prime Minister, stated that her government is prepared to close the borders if migration flows were to resume. Her comments were made during an urgent debate in the Folketing, the Parliament of Copenhagen, regarding the migration crisis, particularly the situation in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta.

Frederiksen described the images coming from Ceuta as "disturbing" and emphasized the importance of a strict migration policy for Denmark and Europe. Additionally, she defended Denmark's continued participation in the Schengen Area, stating that there is currently no plan for a referendum regarding the repeal of Denmark's opt-out in European cooperation on justice and home affairs.

The debate was convened in response to growing concerns over the migration situation and saw the Prime Minister expressing the need to address the challenges arising from migration flows.
